Symposium Overview

The Graduate Student Education Council (GSEC) and the College of Education at Purdue invite submissions for the Annual Graduate Student Educational Research Symposium (AGSERS) to be held Friday, March 7th, 2025 in Krach Leadership Center. This year’s theme, Innovating Education: Integrating Equity and Collaboration Across Disciplines, aligns with current trends in education and emphasizes the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration in shaping the future of learning. We extend an invitation to graduate AND undergraduate students from all departments at Purdue University and other universities who are doing research related to education. Presenters can enter completed work OR work in progress.

Formats

There will be four (4) formats presenters can select from to share their work:
(1)
Poster Presentation,
(2) Round Table,
(3)
Podium Presentation, and
(4) Three-Minute Thesis (3MT)
.
Roundtable presentations will not be judged.
For those joining from a distance, the round table presentation will have a virtual option via Zoom.

Submitting Your Research

Presenters who have multiple projects can also choose to present during TWO of the four available session formats, but can only present once at each session. Each session should be entered via the link above separately.
All proposals must be submitted by 11:59PM on February 14, 2025.
Presentation Formats

1. Poster Presentation (in person)
Judged for the Best Poster Award: Poster sessions combine graphic displays of materials with the opportunity for individualized, informal discussion of the research throughout a 60-minute session. Presenters will create a poster to display during the session, and attendees will walk around the session to view posters. Be prepared to summarize your poster, expand on elements of your poster, and answer questions. It is suggested you bring business cards or a handout for those interested in more information—abstract max 200 words.

2. Round Table (in person and virtual)
Round table presentations are back by popular demand! Participants will be grouped in small groups to share their research. This will allow you to receive more in-depth peer-to-peer feedback regarding your ongoing research. People may solicit casual feedback or ask those in attendance for input and support on a specific aspect of their research. Observers may sit in and listen in on your discussions. The discussions will be moderated to ensure that each presenter has an equal chance to share—abstract max 200 words. The virtual option is available to those presenting away from campus and who will be in a Zoom room.

3. Podium Talks (in person)
Judged for the best Podium Talk: Podium talks are ten-minute research presentations. This extended time period will allow presenters to go more in-depth discussions about their research. Five-minute Q&A sessions follow each talk. Presentations should be accompanied by slides, which you will submit closer to the presentation date—abstract max 200 words.

4. Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Presentations (in-person)
Judged for the Best 3MT Award:
Three-minute thesis (3MT) presentations will be held in a lecture-style classroom. The order of presenters will be randomly assigned. Presenters will have three minutes to present (a computer with a projection display will be available) and a brief question-and-answer session with the audience. Presenters should be able to catch and maintain the audience's attention while clearly and concisely summarizing their research in 180 seconds or less—abstract 200 words.

Call for AGSERS 2025 Judges

Symposium Overview: Each year the Graduate Student Education Council (GSEC) hosts its Annual Graduate Student Education Research Symposium (AGSERS). This year’s theme,
Innovating Education: Integrating Equity and Collaboration Across Disciplines, aligns with current trends in education and emphasizes the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration in shaping the future of learning.

GSEC asks that you consider serving as a judge for AGSERS 2025. AGSERS is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain feedback in a friendly and productive environment. Judges support students’ research by scoring posters, podium talks, and/or 3MT presentations based on established criteria and providing written feedback for improvement.

Judges will be asked to attend an informational session on March 7th (virtually via Zoom; link to be provided later). On the day of AGSERS 2025, we would like you to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled session. 3MT presentations, podium talks, and poster presentations will be judged. To account for requests for more time to judge posters, this year there will be optional time to view posters prior to the interactive poster session (view the detailed agenda when it is available).

Should you be unable to judge, please support AGSERS 2025 by encouraging your students to apply to present completed or in-progress research to help them prepare for larger conferences.

If you are available to serve as a judge, please register below.
